Hair care in summer: tips from our stylists

Summer means sunshine, vacations, warm breezes, and long walks in the fresh air. But during this season, hair is exposed to serious challenges: UV rays, sea salt, chlorinated pool water, and hot dry air can leave it dry, brittle, and lifeless. To keep your hair beautiful and healthy, it’s important to give it a little extra care.

1. Sun Protection

Just like skin needs SPF, hair also needs protection.

Use sprays and oils with UV filters, especially if you plan to spend the whole day outdoors. They create an invisible shield that prevents color fading and dryness.

2. Hydration and Nourishment

In summer, hair loses moisture faster than at any other time of year. Use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, and apply nourishing masks once a week. Products with aloe vera, coconut oil, or argan oil work especially well.

3. Minimize Heat Styling

Blow-dryers, curling irons, and straighteners dehydrate hair even more. Whenever possible, let your hair dry naturally. If styling is a must, don’t forget to use heat protection.

4. Gentle Care After Swimming

After swimming in the sea or pool, don’t leave salt and chlorine on your hair—rinse it with fresh water. This simple step significantly reduces breakage and dullness.

5. Regular Trims

Trimming the ends every 4–6 weeks keeps your hair healthy and neat while preventing split ends.

6. Professional Salon Care

At-home care is essential, but sometimes your hair needs deeper restoration. At our Beauty Room studio, we offer treatments for hydration, lamination, and reconstruction that help restore shine and strength, even after long sunny vacations.

✨ From our experience, many clients choose Sebastian hair lamination before their holidays to protect hair from sun and seawater. After returning, they often go for nourishing treatments—such as “cold botox” or the innovative K18 therapy—that bring back softness, elasticity, and radiant shine.
